jbaxter's Journals on Buzznet

J.Baxter Photography does not create photographs; rather, Jeff Baxter uses his 24 years of experience, continual learning, and excellence to capture a raw moment in time. The average naked eye will miss most details, where an accomplished photographer, such as Jeff Baxter, has acquired a finely tuned development of photographic art and a perceptive eye for lighting, imagery, concepts, as well as a defined sense of awareness of the details of his surroundings. That being said, Jeff Baxter has acquired skills and a natural dedication to his art that have earned him several photography publications beginning at age 14 in Time Magazine of a photo taken as the first American exchange student in China. Since then he has gone on to have published photographs appear in several magazine worldwide.

Photography is one element of Jeff Baxter’s work and keen eye. He is decorated with 3 Emmys and 32 Tellys for his visual effects company, Innomations. Such awarded work has included the well-known television series Star Trek Voyager and the remake of the film Star Trek The Motion Picture.

Jeff Baxter is available for a variety of different genres of photography including, but not limited to, his known quirky, colorful and kink style photographs, portraiture, children, weddings, fashion and high fashion, glamour, beauty, editorial, conceptual and artistic photography including darker imagery, portfolio building photographs for aspiring models, and most any other type of image you can envision.

No TFP; rates upon request and dependent on project; MUA required for most requests, with few exceptions; open to and encourage opportunities of collaboration (TFP with select group collaborations), please message in regards to these opportunities. Words by Mary

Orphaned Works Bill

Orphaned Works Bill, please read and watch video

I think we all need to be concerned about this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqBZd0cP5Yc

I actually am well aware of the bill. The whole of my company seems to be blogging about it and trying to raise awareness. After reading the entire document, I'm very concerned. The wording in some key areas seem to be far too vague and leave far too much room for interpretation. It seems as if our rights as artists are in jeopardy. The major problem is a lot of us lack the patience to read such over embellished dribble. One of the most troubling lines has to do with the concept of a "reasonable" search for the author of the work. That is the kind of thing meant to tie up a less wealthy person (the artist) in expensive litigation with a larger more wealthy company. The other insane request is that we all "register" our work to protect it. This makes it impossibly expensive to even show your work publicly without incurring a huge expense. Either that or risk it's theft ad someone else getting rich off of your work. I feel the worst aspect of this bill is it is being misunderstood by the politicians. They are being told this bill is meant to release old stock pictures that no one alive has the right to claim. The sad part is under our current copyright laws, almost all of these works fall under the statute of public domain. The art community in all mediums will suffer a huge blow should this bill come into law.

I urge you all to do some research and find out more for yourself, don't take anyone's word for it. If you feel strongly about this, write to your local politician, there is a lot of money and special interest behind this bill.

Repost of David Van Allen http://inwinethereistruth.deviantart.com/
